Unfortunately, sometimes an infection in the ear for dogs can be extreme enough that the only course of action is the complete removal if the external ear canal and opening up the middle to remove and debris/pathology. The good news is that once the surgery is completed, your dog can then go on to recover well from what is an extremely painful condition for them to experience.
